This is the first van that I used for my work, but I got envolved in a Van Club called, "OUR OWN VAN CLUB". So Needless to say we repainted the outside and installed new wiring, insulation, lighting, and carpet tile to the inside. Then we started going to Van shows, showing our van and meeting many a person. It was a lot of fun while we were still young. Well needless to say, we wanted to update our van, so we tore everything out and started over. We sand blasted the outside and boy did we have a bunch of holes to fill. A friend knew how to spraypaint, so we took the van to a barn in the winter, with heat blowers, and proceed to install a new paint job. We hired an artist, who worked at the Des Moines Art Museum, to paint some Muppet Murals on our van and we named the van the, "MUSIC MACHINE". The artist did the painting in my garage in the winter and I of course I had to keep heat in the garage. He said this was a new experience for him... We installed an actual musical score, which was from the The Muppets Theme Song. We then added pictures of all the MUPPETS in between the score on the music sheet. I then had the Artist (Doug) paint this side of the van with all the Muppet Band Members. This is me building my running boards, which were made out of plastic and I was adding black tape to make it look like a keyboard. Inside the running boards were 250 lights, which consisted of, red, blue and yellow Christmas tree lights and they were connected to a color organ. So when the music played on my TV or radio, they changed colors to the different pitches of sound. Picture of interior of van in the first phase. We had a juke box that flashed colors. Of course we had stuffed Muppets all over the place. A fogged plastic drinking table. Red Carpet squares in the full interior. A black fold down bed. A Ice Box. A revolving glass ball with lights reflecting off the mirrors. Installed two side windows and an overhead vent. We had two batteries and a invertor to run the lights, etc. A 8" x 60" light column across the ceiling, with 250 lights inside, like the running boards. We had two side columns of lights by each back window. And much more. |
